During the Shoot
My job is to capture you--the way you see yourself, the way you want to be seen. That takes expertise--and I've been doing this for over 30 years. But just as important, I work with you.
I'm a collaborator, not a director. I'm there to draw out a bit of your soul. I have tremendous respect for the people I shoot. I'll adhere to your needs. I'll make sure you're relaxed and comfortable, that you'll have a good time. (All of that will show in the pictures.) And I'll never make you do anything stupid.
Whether you live for the camera or are camera-shy, the chemistry between you and the camera is paramount, and I know how to let it come across. If you love the camera, that's great. It will show. But I've also had people come to me, convinced they weren't "photogenic," that they'd never looked good in any picture ever. ("I'm too fat." "Look at this nose!") Then I put them at ease, give them the right light, get the right turn of the head, and what do you know? They're gorgeous.
When you feel good, you look good.
I listen to you--before the shoot, during the shoot, and at the "aftershoot." I respond to your concerns and needs. My talent and expertise will express your vision.
Here's an idea of what an actual shoot with me is like:
I recently photographed a 90-year old man. Before we started shooting, I spent about 45 minutes talking to him. He told me later this was one of the most thrilling days of his life, because someone took the time to make him feel special. That feeling came out in the photographs.
You're unique and special, too. Call me now, and we'll talk about how to capture that photographically.
