Jan. 12: On Legge, Bourdais and Dragon (indystar)
Question: Katherine Legge to Dragon Racing? (Bill, Greenwood, Ind.) Answer:
Yes, and she’ll have Sebastien Bourdais as a teammate, which is terrific for
her. Bourdais was one of the real bright stories for the 2011 season, showing
extremely well for Dale Coyne’s team in an abbreviated schedule. He often was
best in class, and he should be Lotus’ best hope for a championship this
season. Lotus is coming on strong despite a late start. It is expected to have
Oriol Servia in a car of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. As for Legge, she figures
to be a bit rusty given she sat out last year and hasn’t driven a similar car
since 2007, the last full year of Champ Car. Anyway, great move by Jay Penske.
The first Lotus will be on the track tomorrow at Palm Beach Raceway. Simona De
Silvestro will be doing the shakedown. A wider test will be held next week at
Sebring. Question: Heard a rumor here in PA that Bryan Clauson has a one off
for Indy and possibly three other oval races. Any truth to the rumor and if
so, what team? Thanks for keeping everyone ...
